Around the world 62 million girls are not in school. Millions more are fighting to stay there. As a girl grows older the fight to get an education becomes even harder. In 2018, the Love Foundation partnered with tha Brown Urban Mother Partnership’s founder Ms. Cynthia Turnquest and hosted the first Let Girls Learn initiative. The team traveled to Ladyville, Dangriga and Belmopan engaging more than sixty girls in reading, STEM and other empowerment exercises.
This year the team traveled to San Jose Village in Punta Gorda, Corozal Town and Caye Caulker, eighty girls engaged in STEM exercises and became scientists for a day. Members of tha Brown Urban Mother Partnership provided all the girls with gift bags that included, books, school supplies and Nook Tablets. The mission of Let Girls Learn is to change the perception of girls and the values they are expected to uphold through the eyes of the community, the individual and the institutional levels.
